Do you have an old gas guzzler that gets about 5 mpg. Here are Some tips to help you improve your fuel economy and get the most out of each gallon.
1. Accelerate and Brake slowly - Don't floor it when the light turns green, just accelerate smoothly to the desired speed. When Braking don't wait until you're 20 feet from the car in front of you to start braking. Look ahead and predict when you'll need to stop and slow down ahead of time.
2. Keep up on Maintenance - Change your air filter regularly. A dirty filter restricts air flow into your engine. Change the oil regularly and use synthetic oil, it can really help. Check your tire pressure once a week.
3. Get rid of Extra Weight - Anything in your car that you don't absolutely need is a waste of gas.
4. Acetone - Adding 100% pure acetone to your gas tank can greatly increase your car's gas millage. Use 2 ounces for every 10 gallons of gas. Results vary for every car but this usually helps. This works because the acetone decreases the surface tension of the gas making it easier to com-bust and helps it burn more completely so less gas is wasted. This also decreases the amount of pollution your car is putting out.
CAUTION! Acetone can damage parts in modern cars. Especially plastic parts. Make sure your car can handle it before you try this.
